A little ramble!

Hello beauties! Here's a quick rambly update, I hope you don't mind :)

I do apologise for the lack of posts - I've felt really stuck on what to blog about, I don't want to feel like I'm boring you. I've not worked for the past 2 months so that means I haven't really bought anything - I'm job hunting like crazy! I would love it if you could suggest posts that you would like to see from me in the future.

I would also like to say thank you to everybody who has found my little blog and followed - I have reached 101 followers! It's weird to think haha, but I am very grateful for you all showing an interest and sticking with me :)

I'm going to leave you with a gorgeous picture of the Christmas lights in my local shopping centre.

Much love! Juliette xo

Products I Regret Buying

Hello my lovelies! Sorry I've not been a regular poster in the last couple of weeks - things have been rather hectic (coursework deadlines, theory revision and general stuff) but I thought I would do a post on products that I regret buying. Some of them are good products and actually aren't rubbish, it's just they don't suit my skin tone or what I want from a product.

L-R Superdrug Dry Shampoo, e.l.f Cream Blush in Flirt, LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub, MAC Pro Sculpting Cream in Naturally Defined, Essie Cute as a Button, MAC Casual Colour in Lazy Sunday

Superdrug Dry Shampoo
I had run out of my usual Batiste dry shampoo when I bought this - it was buy one get two free so I thought I would give it a whirl. It isn't the usual white powder which Batiste is known for; if you spray too much it turns really sticky and leaves your hair feeling greasier than it already is. It also has a funny, strange smell which isn't at all pleasant and can linger. Defeats the object of a dry shampoo which soaks up all of the oil.

e.l.f Cream Blush in Flirt
This was on a wishlist and featured in my e.l.f haul a couple of months ago, and I was so excited to try it. What a let down. It was the colour that first attracted me but also how cheap it was for a cream blusher - the only ones really on the market were highend such as MAC etc. It comes in a really clunky container, which may look cool, but it's too big for carrying around in your make-up bag. The consitency isn't creamy at all - it feels like playdough or putty and when using your fingers, you only get a trace and the product is left in a scoop still in the container. Feels more like chalky putty and doesn't blend well at all.

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub
Don't get me wrong, I think this is a brilliant concept and I have no complaints about the appeal/taste/smell of it. The only thing that I have an issue with is the fact of licking my lips after I have used the scrub. Sure, it tastes delicious, but I have extremely dry lips and do I really want to be licking off all of the dead skin too? I also use this product after wearing a red lip or a lip stain so just imagine what you are swallowing.

MAC Pro Sculpting Cream in Naturally Defined
I bought this online and after telling a MAC Online Adviser that I am an NW20, she advised I choose the colour Naturally Defined. It's a lovely creamy contour, I just wish I had gone for the colour Walnut as it is really hard to define your cheekbones/contour with this.

Essie Cute as a Button
I had seen the hype around this colour, and bought it during the Summer and to be true to it, it is such a pretty pinky/coraly shade. But this polish seems to last a day at the most on my nails! Always chips or peels off!

MAC Casual Colour in Lazy Sunday
Isn't this just the most gorgeous pink you've ever seen? It is a 'lip & cheek colour' and unfortunately, it is just too pale to look right with my skintone and it washes out my face when I put it on my cheeks. It does however, look nice on the lips if you're going for a 60's heavy doll eyes/pink understated lips look.

These products may be perfect for you, they just don't suit me and it's money I could have done without spending. But hey ho, it's all about finding out what you like and don't. What products are on your hit list?

Dear Santa...

So it's that time again where I get really giddy about Christmas being around the corner and literally want everything. For the past few years, I have always received a phone contract/laptop/techno thingy off my parents and a few bits and bobs on the side. But this year, I pay my own phone bill and I got an iPad earlier in the year so there is no need for a technology based present. Commence a list full of clothes and make-up!
L-R The Perks of being a Wallflower, NARS Laguna Bronzer, MAC Blankety Lipstick, MAC Rebel Lipstick, Onesie from Next, Daisy by Marc Jacobs Perfume Gift Set, Real Techniques Starter Set, BaByliss Thermo Ceramic Rollers, Zara Studded shopper, both t-shirts from Zara

These are just some of the things I'm asking for off Santa - I've been a good girl! What's on your Christmas list?

Walnut & Cinnamon Muffins! Perfect Christmas Treats

Two posts in one day?! Woah, I am on a roll! This afternoon I made some delicious Walnut & Cinnamon muffins. After raiding all of our baking cook books for inspiration knowing that I wanted to include cinnamon, I found a simple recipe in my 'Sweet Treats Collection' recipe book series from Next.

The finished result! They are very moist inside - you could compare it to a carrot cake perhaps (it is practically the same concept apart from the carrot and bananas). The cinnamon isn't too overpowering and the walnuts soften so that they aren't too crunchy. I trickled a little bit of plain icing on the top of them in a crisscross shape and then left them to dry and finish cooling. They are not only perfect for Christmas, but November nights, cosied up on the sofa with a hot chocolate. Don't tell anyone but I've just eaten my fourth one haha!

October Favourites!

Hello my lovelies! I hope everyone is enjoying the half-term week off - I know I certainly am! I've just had a nice chilled week where I've spent time with friends and family and caught up on sleep and coursework (and drooled over Daniel Craig in Skyfall. Yum). Here are a few products that I have been loving throughout October:

L-R Boots Traditional Glycerin and Rosewater Toner, Barry M Lip Gloss in Coral, Rimmel Kate Moss Spring Collection lipstick in 19, Rose & Co Sweet Vanilla Salve, MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW20, Natural Collection blusher in Peach Melba, MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner in Jet Black

Boots Traditional Glycerin and Rosewater Toner
My skin has been terrible throughout October - you can definitely tell I have a lot on my plate just by the state of my skin. It's been spotty, blemishy and quite red and this toner has been brilliant in trying to calm everything down. It's very moisturising and quite oily, which I don't mind as I use it before bed.

Barry M Lip Gloss in Coral
This smells amazing and doesn't feel sticky like many lip glosses do - it feels more like a balm. I've been wearing this on my lips when I've had a smokey eye or just a simple look.

Rimmel Kate Moss Spring Collection lipstick in 19
This is a gorgeous plummy-toned lipstick that I think depending on your skin tone, looks different on everyone. On me, it appears quite plummy/brown and could even be seen as a muted red. It lasts well on the lips and doesn't dry them out.

Rose & Co Sweet Vanilla Salve
I mentioned this little gem in my Handbag Must Haves so it definitely is doing the trick if it's in my favourites! Smells lovely and sweet, isn't sticky and keep lips flake free. Perfect.

MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW20
As I mentioned, my skin has been terrible and I found that my usual Lasting Perfection concealer was yes, covering spots and blemishes, but I would find them to reappear throughout the day due to the product slipping. I use a tiny bit of this with my MAC 224 brush and seal with powder and I haven't had a problem.

Natural Collection blusher in Peach Melba
This is such a healthy, fresh looking blusher which has helped brightened up my skin - you never have the risk of looking too orange with this product either.

MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner in Jet Black
I've been using this on the outer corners of my eye and then smudged into the waterline and lashline to create a simple smokey eye.

So these have been my favourites for October - as much as I love November for Bonfire Night and parkin, it has suddenly got so cold! Keep warm girls!

Love, Juliette xo
