The A/W Face

Good evening! I have been loving the transition from Summer into Autumn: wearing my chunky knits and swapping bronzer for blusher. For the past couple of weeks I have been wearing simple winged eyeliner, contoured eyeshadow and a deep berry, almost purple lip. It's been sad to see my coral lipsticks go to the back of the draw, but it's good to welcome a change!

Avon Ideal Flawless foundation in Ivory, MAC Sculpting Cream in Naturally Defined, Naked 2 palette, Natural Collection liquid eyeliner in Black, Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in Light 2, MAC Creme Blush in Posey

Topshop lipstick in Inhibition and Avon Little Red Dress lipstick in Vino Royale

I like to first line my lips with my No7 lip pencil in Fire for longevity, and then with my lip brush I work a small amount of Inhibition onto my lips and blend in with the lip pencil, almost like a stain. I then go over the centre of my lips with Vino Royale to make it look glossier and more of a dark cherry colour.

I do apologise for the blurry and very pose-worthy photo, it was for Instagram, but here is an example :D

I'm still getting over my cold so I'm going to spend this weekend trying to get better and do lots of homework and studying! Joy!!

My make-up storage

Hello my dearies! I have been feeling very under the weather these past couple of days - sore throat, earache, blocked nose and a headache URGH! - so I thought I would do a nice appealing post of my make-up storage to not only cheer me up, but because it was requested a couple of times in my bedroom post. I don't have a huge amount of make-up in comparison to some people's collections (I'm a student, trust me I would happily have more!!!), but I have consolidated it all into two drawers and after much faffing about, swapping and changing boxes and seeing how many lipsticks I can fit into one small space, I have my storage completely sorted.

*ooh hi me!*

So I keep my make-up in the two big draws and I use boxes or lids as little dividers to seperate everything as I like it all to be organised and categorised. In one draw I keep all of my 'face' products: foundations, concealers, highlighters, powders, blushers and bronzers. Towards the back is where I keep my nail varnish removers, make-up tools, eyelashes and a back-up concealer. I also slot samples of products down the sides so they aren't sprawled over everything. The other draw contains eyeshadows, eyeliners, lip pencils, mascaras, lip products and lipsticks. At the back on the left, I keep my Sleek and MUA eyeshadow palettes and a broken Lancome palette (which is held together by elastic bands!). I keep my lip balms and my lip scrub at the back too, alongside miniture travel size Temple Spa toners and cleansers.

I still don't think I am happy with how I keep my lipsticks - it might just be a wise idea to stop buying more Juliette! It also bugs me how they are all different shapes, for example my MAC ones won't stand label side up unless they are tightly squished in. One of life's many problems I'm afraid haha!

Avon calling! Haul!

Just a quick post today! I've really been getting into Avon recently and I think this may be my 5th order! I only place an order if products are on offer because then I'm not too bothered if it doesn't live up to my expectations. So far, I haven't been disappointed!

L-R Ideal Flawless foundation in Ivory, Little Red Dress lipstick in Vino Royale, Ultra Colour Rich lipstick in Apricot Mystery and Angled Blush Brush

I've been looking for a wine coloured lipstick for a while - they were either too purple or just deep red. This will look perfect in the Winter with simple winged eyeliner and pale skin. As for the foundation, my MAC Studio Fix Fluid is becoming a little dark and I have heard fabulous reviews about this foundation, and I've seen it in a couple of Pixiwoo's tutorials, so I've decided to give it a go.

I'm currently now scouring the new catalogue for some more beauty bargains! I finally caved and bought the Naked 2 palette and the new MAC Pro Sculpting Cream which I'm waiting for Mr Postman to deliver. I also hunted down the MUA Undressed palette so there may be a 'which palette do I prefer/Cheap or Chic' post later this week!

Enjoy the rest of your week :)

Autumn Haul!

Happy Saturday! So recently, I have been buying lots of nice items of clothing ready for Autumn/Winter. I suffer from Reynaud's Syndrome which to put it straight, is very poor blood circulation. So whatever temperature you may class as cold, I will be freezing and it mainly effects my hands and feet. So I am all for chunky knits and thick-soled boots! And as much as I hate the Winter because of my condition, I can't help but love the fashion. All of these beauties will come in handy for college too.

Koala print blouse with studded collar from Primark £12

Bat wing cutout top from Topshop £14

Jumper with coloured flecks from Topshop £26

Striped top from H&M £7.99

Cable knit cardigan from H&M £14.99

'Leigh' jeans from Topshop £38

Pixie boots from M&S Outlet £12.50 (was originally £25)

Boots from Primark £18

Abacus Leather Chelsea Ankle Boots from ASOS £40

Fingers crossed these will keep my tootsies warm! I've been pairing my boots with some thick cabled socks in either black, brown, beige and grey and they have looked lovely. They should be featured on future OOTD posts I hope :)

I'm going out tonight, so if I remember I will take some snaps of my outfit and my face and do a post for you all tomorrow. I'm super excited - going to let my hair down!

Have a lovely day

Make-Up Can Help Heal a Broken Heart Right?

Hello! I have a huge gap at college and I'm not due back until 2 o'clock, there is no homework to be done, so I thought I would do a nice little blog post on my recent beauty buys. I went to Harrogate for the weekend a few weeks back, and it was not long after I had split up with my boyfriend. So, I went mad with the spending and I must admit it did make me feel better. I literally couldn't care less! I also bought lots of  jumpers and boots ready for Autumn too (I will do another blog post later this week!). I have curbed my spending now as I'm coming to terms with things and being skint isn't going to make things any better ha!

L-R Barry M Lipstick in 53, Accessorize Lipstick in Smitten and Barry M Lipstick in 147

Now, you may think that these are all the same shade. But I have been on the hunt for some coral toned lipsticks for quite a while and I saw Smitten reviewed by Jessica French and it looked perfect. I was trawling through all of the comments and saw that people were saying that the Barry M lipstick in 147 was similar. And then I just got carried away...

Mineralized Skin Finish in Rose Quartz and Lustre Glass in Love Nectar

On our way home from Harrogate, we stopped off at the York Outlet. I could not wait to see what the Cosmetics Company Store had in. There was so many pretty MSF's that I must have spent 20 minutes deciding. I use it to highlight the tops of my cheekbones. I know that Love Nectar is a favourite of Tanya Burr's and it is such a gorgeous colour with slight flecks of glitter in.

L-R Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze, Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light and Jemma Kidd Shimmer Shadow in Creme

After using some BB cream samples which I got from Maybelline's Facebook, it really encouraged me to buy the real thing. It is amazing! And a perfect colour match too. I bought the Jemma Kidd eyeshadow from CheapSmells and I've only used it a couple of times but so far so good! The 24hr Tattoo does what it says on the tin. It's such a gorgeous silvery-bronzey colour (is that even possible?) and lasts all day - even on oily eyelids like mine!

L-R Lipstick in Pillow Talk, Lipstick in Brighton Rock and Blusher in Prime Time

I then made a cheeky Topshop order and bought the much raved about Pillow Talk and the two other products. At first sight, Brighton Rock looks like it could be a dupe for MAC's Impassioned but I need to investigate this further.

I'm just waiting a Fragrace Direct order to which I have purchased Essie's Mademoiselle, a Calvin Klein nail polish and my favourite mascara at the minute, Bourjois 1001 Lashes. Hurry Mr Postman! And my Avon order should also come soon but my rep is on holiday - I've ordered yet more lipsticks!

It has been nice to write this post - it is taking my mind off things! I think I'm going to do a clothing haul later this week full of all the lovely items that I bought whilst in Harrogate.

Take care

Back with a bang?... & a FOTD!

Hello my lovelies! So as you have probably guessed from the lack of posts in the last few weeks, that I have had a lot on my plate. I have had a couple of issues recently with my boyfriend. I mean, EX-boyfriend. Yes, we split up and it had come as such a huge shock that I haven't really felt like doing anything. Eating. Having fun. I've just moped and cried. It just feels like a huge part of me is missing (we were together just over 2 years!!).

But I feel like today has been the first day where I've felt like doing something productive and I think it's the first signs of moving on. I'm not going to go into details of what happened as I will starting blubbering again and then I'll be back to square one, so I think it's best if we crack on about make-up!

The weather has been lovely these past couple of days and my mum had seized the opportunity and organised a BBQ for this afternoon. I felt like I wanted to get ready and make an effort but I wanted my make-up to be quick and simple, and still quite summery considering it's September.

(Excuse my spotty skin and heavy bags - all of the effects of a break up!)

This photo seems pretty product heavy when actually it was simple make-up:

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in light (it was a sample), Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light, Natural Collection Blush in Pink Cloud, Urban Decay Primer Potion, MUA Gel Eyeliner in Underground, VIVO Brow and Eye Kit, MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Shade 2, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent, Bourjois 1001 Lashes mascara in Black, Maybelline Dream Mousse Eyecolor in Caramel Karma, 17 Instant Glow Shimmer Brick, Barry M Lipstick in 147 and MAC MSF in Rose Quartz.

Woaah. It sounds like a lot ha! But after using my Mousse eyeshadow all over the lid, I used my shimmer brick (the 2nd and 4th shades) just on the outside corners and under my lower lashline. I used my beautiful new MSF as a highlight on the tops of my cheekbones and my gel eyeliner just to define and add thickness to my lashes. All of the other products are staples which I use on a day to day basis, and I am so glad I swapped my foundation for a BB cream sample... so far so good! I may just have to pop into town tomorrow to buy the real thing!

Well I'm taking each day as it comes, so God knows what I may be like tomorrow! Hopefully, onwards and upwards.

Love, Juliette xo
