An extremely late November favourites!

Apologies for this going up very, very late! But as they say: better late than never! November has flown by, we are now definitely on the run up to Christmas and I am so excited! I've been loving dark eyes and dark nude lips in November, with a tiny bit of a pinky-toned highlighter dabbed on the cheeks. The reason why I use a pinky highlight is because a shimmery, light highlighter can sometimes look harsh in Winter or over the top - better saved for an occasion! The lipstick colour is very deceiving - when applied, it comes out quite purply, or in some light a beautiful dark nude, with a metallic sheen.

The scrub contains tiny particles, which are very gritty, but creamy, and not too harsh on your face. I've been struggling with blemishes and spots for the past couple of weeks (those painful ones that occur under the skin!) and this wonder scrub has really helped combat them. Gentle, but powerful.

What's in My Handbag?

Hello dearies! Golly, I know I've kept saying for the past month "I'm so sorry for the lack of posts - I will try and get one up soon...!", but I've been upto my eyeballs in coursework and deadlines. College sucks! I know it's the 10th, so I'm not sure wether to put up my November favourites, would you still like to see them?

I thought I would do a little 'What's in My Handbag' post today as recently I've stuck to one bag and it's been vital in going to college/work/days out/shopping trips. I'm not going to lie, I've had to empty out all of the bus tickets, and chewing gum wrapper ends. My bag is from Zara and I got it for £20 in the sale a couple of months ago! I love the colour, it goes with everything. It's just the perfect size - not too big and not too small.

Because I live in gloomy, rainy England, an umbrella is always crucial! And my little wooly hat which I always chuck in my bag in case my hair takes a turn for the worst or if it's just too cold. I also keep my purse and glasses in my bag, along with my Avon Little Black Dress perfume and my John Frieda hairspray. I always chuck in my make-up bag and a comb and little butterfly clip, along with some hair grips because you never know when you may need them! I have my Pukka Pad which I take with me to college and is always in my bag - I filter in other college workbooks when needed. And last but not least, I have my memory stick, beats headphones and my phone. I could include pens, nail files, paracetemol packets, plasters and lady items, but I'm guessing you would expect all ladies to have these items in their bag!

I'm housesitting for my cousin whilst he is in Australia for the next three weeks, so tonight, I'm home alone. I don't have to worry about other family members being asleep so I can turn up Made In Chelsea!!

Have a lovely week

Getting ready for Christmas!

Hello my lovelies, this post is from my iPad as my Internet on my laptop is deciding to act silly! My November Favourites will be up tomorrow but here is just a quick post on my preparations for Christmas since it is finally the 1st December!

My advent calendar is a simple Cadbury's one - I really wanted a Justin Bieber one, but they had all sold out *cries* :(. I've been burning my Cinnamon Clove candle from Primark for the last couple of weeks now and it smells amazing. I bought some fairy lights today to wrap around my headboard - I got them from Poundland and I'm very impressed with them so far!

A little ramble!

Hello beauties! Here's a quick rambly update, I hope you don't mind :)

I do apologise for the lack of posts - I've felt really stuck on what to blog about, I don't want to feel like I'm boring you. I've not worked for the past 2 months so that means I haven't really bought anything - I'm job hunting like crazy! I would love it if you could suggest posts that you would like to see from me in the future.

I would also like to say thank you to everybody who has found my little blog and followed - I have reached 101 followers! It's weird to think haha, but I am very grateful for you all showing an interest and sticking with me :)

I'm going to leave you with a gorgeous picture of the Christmas lights in my local shopping centre.

Much love! Juliette xo

Products I Regret Buying

Hello my lovelies! Sorry I've not been a regular poster in the last couple of weeks - things have been rather hectic (coursework deadlines, theory revision and general stuff) but I thought I would do a post on products that I regret buying. Some of them are good products and actually aren't rubbish, it's just they don't suit my skin tone or what I want from a product.

L-R Superdrug Dry Shampoo, e.l.f Cream Blush in Flirt, LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub, MAC Pro Sculpting Cream in Naturally Defined, Essie Cute as a Button, MAC Casual Colour in Lazy Sunday

Superdrug Dry Shampoo
I had run out of my usual Batiste dry shampoo when I bought this - it was buy one get two free so I thought I would give it a whirl. It isn't the usual white powder which Batiste is known for; if you spray too much it turns really sticky and leaves your hair feeling greasier than it already is. It also has a funny, strange smell which isn't at all pleasant and can linger. Defeats the object of a dry shampoo which soaks up all of the oil.

e.l.f Cream Blush in Flirt
This was on a wishlist and featured in my e.l.f haul a couple of months ago, and I was so excited to try it. What a let down. It was the colour that first attracted me but also how cheap it was for a cream blusher - the only ones really on the market were highend such as MAC etc. It comes in a really clunky container, which may look cool, but it's too big for carrying around in your make-up bag. The consitency isn't creamy at all - it feels like playdough or putty and when using your fingers, you only get a trace and the product is left in a scoop still in the container. Feels more like chalky putty and doesn't blend well at all.

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub
Don't get me wrong, I think this is a brilliant concept and I have no complaints about the appeal/taste/smell of it. The only thing that I have an issue with is the fact of licking my lips after I have used the scrub. Sure, it tastes delicious, but I have extremely dry lips and do I really want to be licking off all of the dead skin too? I also use this product after wearing a red lip or a lip stain so just imagine what you are swallowing.

MAC Pro Sculpting Cream in Naturally Defined
I bought this online and after telling a MAC Online Adviser that I am an NW20, she advised I choose the colour Naturally Defined. It's a lovely creamy contour, I just wish I had gone for the colour Walnut as it is really hard to define your cheekbones/contour with this.

Essie Cute as a Button
I had seen the hype around this colour, and bought it during the Summer and to be true to it, it is such a pretty pinky/coraly shade. But this polish seems to last a day at the most on my nails! Always chips or peels off!

MAC Casual Colour in Lazy Sunday
Isn't this just the most gorgeous pink you've ever seen? It is a 'lip & cheek colour' and unfortunately, it is just too pale to look right with my skintone and it washes out my face when I put it on my cheeks. It does however, look nice on the lips if you're going for a 60's heavy doll eyes/pink understated lips look.

These products may be perfect for you, they just don't suit me and it's money I could have done without spending. But hey ho, it's all about finding out what you like and don't. What products are on your hit list?

Dear Santa...

So it's that time again where I get really giddy about Christmas being around the corner and literally want everything. For the past few years, I have always received a phone contract/laptop/techno thingy off my parents and a few bits and bobs on the side. But this year, I pay my own phone bill and I got an iPad earlier in the year so there is no need for a technology based present. Commence a list full of clothes and make-up!
L-R The Perks of being a Wallflower, NARS Laguna Bronzer, MAC Blankety Lipstick, MAC Rebel Lipstick, Onesie from Next, Daisy by Marc Jacobs Perfume Gift Set, Real Techniques Starter Set, BaByliss Thermo Ceramic Rollers, Zara Studded shopper, both t-shirts from Zara

These are just some of the things I'm asking for off Santa - I've been a good girl! What's on your Christmas list?

Walnut & Cinnamon Muffins! Perfect Christmas Treats

Two posts in one day?! Woah, I am on a roll! This afternoon I made some delicious Walnut & Cinnamon muffins. After raiding all of our baking cook books for inspiration knowing that I wanted to include cinnamon, I found a simple recipe in my 'Sweet Treats Collection' recipe book series from Next.

The finished result! They are very moist inside - you could compare it to a carrot cake perhaps (it is practically the same concept apart from the carrot and bananas). The cinnamon isn't too overpowering and the walnuts soften so that they aren't too crunchy. I trickled a little bit of plain icing on the top of them in a crisscross shape and then left them to dry and finish cooling. They are not only perfect for Christmas, but November nights, cosied up on the sofa with a hot chocolate. Don't tell anyone but I've just eaten my fourth one haha!

October Favourites!

Hello my lovelies! I hope everyone is enjoying the half-term week off - I know I certainly am! I've just had a nice chilled week where I've spent time with friends and family and caught up on sleep and coursework (and drooled over Daniel Craig in Skyfall. Yum). Here are a few products that I have been loving throughout October:

L-R Boots Traditional Glycerin and Rosewater Toner, Barry M Lip Gloss in Coral, Rimmel Kate Moss Spring Collection lipstick in 19, Rose & Co Sweet Vanilla Salve, MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW20, Natural Collection blusher in Peach Melba, MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner in Jet Black

Boots Traditional Glycerin and Rosewater Toner
My skin has been terrible throughout October - you can definitely tell I have a lot on my plate just by the state of my skin. It's been spotty, blemishy and quite red and this toner has been brilliant in trying to calm everything down. It's very moisturising and quite oily, which I don't mind as I use it before bed.

Barry M Lip Gloss in Coral
This smells amazing and doesn't feel sticky like many lip glosses do - it feels more like a balm. I've been wearing this on my lips when I've had a smokey eye or just a simple look.

Rimmel Kate Moss Spring Collection lipstick in 19
This is a gorgeous plummy-toned lipstick that I think depending on your skin tone, looks different on everyone. On me, it appears quite plummy/brown and could even be seen as a muted red. It lasts well on the lips and doesn't dry them out.

Rose & Co Sweet Vanilla Salve
I mentioned this little gem in my Handbag Must Haves so it definitely is doing the trick if it's in my favourites! Smells lovely and sweet, isn't sticky and keep lips flake free. Perfect.

MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW20
As I mentioned, my skin has been terrible and I found that my usual Lasting Perfection concealer was yes, covering spots and blemishes, but I would find them to reappear throughout the day due to the product slipping. I use a tiny bit of this with my MAC 224 brush and seal with powder and I haven't had a problem.

Natural Collection blusher in Peach Melba
This is such a healthy, fresh looking blusher which has helped brightened up my skin - you never have the risk of looking too orange with this product either.

MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner in Jet Black
I've been using this on the outer corners of my eye and then smudged into the waterline and lashline to create a simple smokey eye.

So these have been my favourites for October - as much as I love November for Bonfire Night and parkin, it has suddenly got so cold! Keep warm girls!

Pretty and Polished!

Hello my beauties! I hope you have had a nice weekend - perhaps Halloween celebrations? I went out on Saturday night, as a vampire, after changing my mind from dressing up as a cat and it was a brilliant night out! I was planning on having a catch-up blogging session yesterday but I spent 90% of the day asleep, nursing a hangover and lounging in my pjs - I only surfaced for Homeland haha!

Eeee scary!! Dress from ASOS, necklace from Topman, clutch bag from Primark, shoes from Miss-guided

Anyway, today's post is about simple, well-polished make-up that makes me look healthy and glowy - a real thumbs up in Autumn/Winter! You may be thinking, where is your dark wine coloured lipstick that is the Autumn must have? Well, I just feel that neutral tones make me look healthier and it doesn't look too summery because I haven't been using highlighter: a well defined, greyish, contoured eye, peachy cheeks and a glossy nude lip.

L-R MUA Gel Liner in Underground, Avon Ideal Flawless foundation in Ivory, MAC lipstick in Lovelorn, L'Oreal Color Riche Golden Naturals Blond lipstick in Velvet Gold, Natural Collection Blusher in Peach Melba, MUA Undressed palette, Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl in Nude, Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer, No7 Lip Liner in 20 Nude

On some days throughout the week, I've worn my ELF lipstick in Barely Bitten which is a gorgeous muted red shade that helps tie it in with Autumn.

I'm going to spend tonight pampering, watching Made In Chelsea and catching up on sleep!

Handbag Must Haves

Good evening! I thought I would do a quick post of my handbag essentials, which I carry around day-to-day and are always coming in handy.

L-R QVS Nail File, L'Occitane Rose Petals Hand Cream, hair grips and Rose & Co Sweet Vanilla Salve

QVS Nail File
This is absolutely perfect for when you end up catching your nail or chipping them and you are in desperate need for a nail file! It doesn't make an appearance often but when it does, boy, it's a life saviour!

L'Occitane Rose Petals Hand Cream
I got this free with this month's Marie Claire and I've had my eye on these hand creams for a while but I was going to wait until Christmas. It smells good enough to eat and doesn't leave your hands feeling slimey or sticky. Really comes in handy as the weather is deteriorating and hands are getting chapped and dry.

Hair grips
Good old hair grips! You always end up needing one or your friend does. I keep them in this little tube which stops them from cluttering up every little pocket in my bag.

Rose & Co Sweet Vanilla Salve
I've fallen out with my Carmex Cherry Lip Balm as I feel it just isn't doing what it should anymore. So I've swapped to this one that I had hiding in my dressing table draw - it smells so sweet and delicious and feels really nourishing on the lips. I love putting it on the top of my lipstick when my lips start to feel dry.

These are just a couple of things which make my day a little easier. I could name endless more necessities - mints, tissues, perfume, bobbles, nail varnish remover pads, deodorant - but these are usually the most popular with me and what I would prefer to have in my bag.

What's new pussycat?! - Halloween Make-up!

Halloween is getting nearer and I am so excited! I'm going out next Saturday night round my local town with all of my friends and I have decided to go as a cat. Not the most original idea but I'm skint and £50 is a bit too much to pay for a Wonder Woman costume ha!

It's not your usual winged-liner, cat eye (I thought I would go a tad more glam!!). I used tape at the edges to create a sharp line and used a black eyeshadow from the Naked 2 palette all across my lid and under my eye. I used my MUA Gel Liner to fill in any gaps on my lash line and create a little point in the inner corner.

Today, I bought the Collection Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in Glitz 1 after seeing Nic from Pixiwoo use it in her Leona Lewis make-up tutorial. It looked amazing! I transferred a little on the back of my hand and used a brush to pack it on the inner part of my lid and fade it across. I used a matte brown eyeshadow to contour my nose as it is always a defined feature on cats. I then used my Gel Liner to create the whiskers and black nose. My face is my usual everyday make-up which I applied this morning and on my lips I have a No7 Lip Liner in 20 Nude and a Rimmel Lipstick in Undressed.

L-R Rimmel Lipstick in Undressed, MUA Gel Liner in Underground, Collection Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in Glitz 1, Girl About Town lashes in Carnaby, Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette eye shadow in Blackout, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Bourjois 1001 Lashes, No7 Lip Liner in 20 Nude

I think on the night, I'm going to change my lipstick to MAC's Lovelorn, which is a gorgeous pink and I'm going to draw 'freckles' (are they?!) coming from my eyebrows up to the hairline. I cannot wait!

What are you doing for Halloween?

A Glitter Mani!

Hello my lovelies, I'm sorry it has been a while - I've had such a busy week! But I reckon I have a lot more time on my hands now, and glittery nail polish come to think of it! I've been getting a little bored of silver glitters and I've been on the hunt for a gorgeous, gold glitter of various sizes and found the perfect one in H&M.

L-R H&M Nail Polish in Stay Golden, Barry M Nail Paint in Black, Avon Nail Experts Revitacool Base Coat, Rimmel Pro Super Wear Top Coat

I painted my nails on Saturday night and it's now Tuesday afternoon - this top coat really works. It's my first time of using it and so far I've had no chipping or peeling. Sounds like a winner to me! I used two coats of the Barry M Black and then layered the gold glitter on top - I didn't want the glitter to look too organised and neat. It almost feels quite Christmassy (am I allowed to say that?!).

I also had to give my nails a well needed trim as they were starting to flake even though they were so nice and long! So I think they look quite weird being short but my nails grow quick so it's not a problem ha!

I hope you have a lovely day!

Playing with Palettes!

Well today has certainly lived up to the Sunday expectation of a 'lazy day'. I have spent the morning watching beauty videos on YouTube and I stumbled across an old video from Pixiwoo doing an Adriana Lima inspired make-up tutorial. Nic used the Sleek Storm palette and it gave me an idea to follow her steps but use the colours from my different palettes.

Top: L-R Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, Sleek Storm palette (or what is left of it ha ha!) Bottom: L-R MUA Undressed palette, MUA Heaven and Earth palette

To create this look I used a light shimmery champagne colour all over my lid, with a dark brown smudged in at the lashes and blended upwards. I then used a black to line my top lashline and underneath the bottom lashes - which I blended out. I used a gold colour just in the centre of my lid. I wanted to keep it quite natural and complementary of the rest of my make-up, so I just used mascara and the new Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof  Kohl liner in 005 Nude on the waterline - no black liquid liner.

I wanted my skin to look fresh and healthy, so I used my Estee Lauder bronzer through the back of my cheeks, a pinky-peachy Max Factor creme blush on the apples of my cheeks and then I used my 17 Shimmer Brick to highlight. I used the Urban Decay lipgloss that comes with the palette on my lips.

Avon Ideal Flawless foundation in Ivory, Lancome Fluide Illuminateur, Bourjois 1001 Lashes, VIVO Brow and Eye Kit, Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in Soft Pink, Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof  Kohl liner in 005 Nude, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Collection Illuminating Touch concealer in 2 Natural, Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, 17 Shimmer Brick, Urban Decay lipgloss in Naked, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent.

I love this make-up as there are so many neutral palettes and eyeshadows out there - you really can 'take your pick' and create a look with different products but still end up with the same result.

Botanics Shine Away Day Cream Review

I think I may have mentioned it before, but my skin is very oily and I have trouble staying shine-free throughout the day - not even powder helps. I can touch my chin and I always get transferred foundation on my fingers. Eventhough I wear oil-free foundations and ones that are targeted towards oily skin types, I have just been so frustated of looking like a greasy mess. So I thought, maybe it's my base that I really need to evaluate because I don't use a primer - usually I cleanse, tone, moisturise and then apply my foundation. I popped into Boots and I knew I wanted some new skincare (of some sort) from the Botanics range as I had heard some awesome things about it. I noticed this day cream/moisturiser and the words 'Shine Away' immediately caught my eye.

I feel as though it gives my skin enough moisture to last throughout the day, but leaves me with a matte finish. I've been using it for the last couple of days and I cannot believe the difference. I feel as if I don't need to be constantly checking in the mirror the state of my face and reaching for my powder - I also don't get foundation on my fingers. For £4.99, you really can't go wrong and with an added SPF15 you are well protected against the Winter sun! My face doesn't feel oily and when I run my fingers along it, it feels smooth and matte. Perfect.

September Favourites

Hello my lovelies! I hope you all had a lovely September and that you have all got back into the swing of school/college/uni/work etc - I haven't ha ha! I am fed up with how much homework and coursework I have to do already and that I keep getting pestered to start my personal statement - just get me to uni!

1) Avon Advanced Techniques Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo, 2) Avon Ideal Flawless foundation in Ivory, 3) Revlon nail polish in 091 Smoky Canvas, 4) Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Mauve It Over, 5) Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, 6) MAC Creme Blush in Posey, 7) Nivea Visage Pure & Natural Facial Cleansing Wipes

1) This shampoo leaves my hair so soft and shiny - I have really noticed the difference. Combined with the conditioner, I felt as if it was too much for my hair to handle (it's only fine), and it made it very greasy, quickly. So I just use them seperately and I am so pleased with the effect that they are having.
2) Surprise surpise that this is mentioned! It goes onto my skin really well and I feel like I don't need much to feel well 'covered' - which I like. Smells gorgeous too!
3) As much as I tried to carry on wearing coral and bright blue nail polish, I felt it was time to let go and take on the Autumnal colours. I find this colour is perfect because it's not too darker grey shade that it makes you look ill and it does the transition job well.
4) I felt as though my new plummy lipsticks should have been included, but Mauve It Over has been my go-to lipstick practically nearly everyday. I just find it easier than lining my lips, spending 10 minutes applying red lipstick to then have it on my teeth, in my hair and on bottle tops. It's such a beautiful everyday colour.
5) Again, surprise surprise! Ever since this came in the post, I haven't stopped using it. Every shadow is beautiful and the pigment is brilliant.
6) I included this in my last post, and I have found that this blush is great for achieving glowy, fresh skin as we go into Autumn.
7) I bought these recently as they were on offer in Superdrug and I had remembered that I didn't have any of my usual wipes at home. I use these wipes to take off my eye make-up and to just generally take my first layer of make-up off before I cleanse properly. These are so smooth on the skin, and don't irritate or aggravate it, even around the eye area.

The A/W Face

Good evening! I have been loving the transition from Summer into Autumn: wearing my chunky knits and swapping bronzer for blusher. For the past couple of weeks I have been wearing simple winged eyeliner, contoured eyeshadow and a deep berry, almost purple lip. It's been sad to see my coral lipsticks go to the back of the draw, but it's good to welcome a change!

Avon Ideal Flawless foundation in Ivory, MAC Sculpting Cream in Naturally Defined, Naked 2 palette, Natural Collection liquid eyeliner in Black, Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in Light 2, MAC Creme Blush in Posey

Topshop lipstick in Inhibition and Avon Little Red Dress lipstick in Vino Royale

I like to first line my lips with my No7 lip pencil in Fire for longevity, and then with my lip brush I work a small amount of Inhibition onto my lips and blend in with the lip pencil, almost like a stain. I then go over the centre of my lips with Vino Royale to make it look glossier and more of a dark cherry colour.

I do apologise for the blurry and very pose-worthy photo, it was for Instagram, but here is an example :D

I'm still getting over my cold so I'm going to spend this weekend trying to get better and do lots of homework and studying! Joy!!

My make-up storage

Hello my dearies! I have been feeling very under the weather these past couple of days - sore throat, earache, blocked nose and a headache URGH! - so I thought I would do a nice appealing post of my make-up storage to not only cheer me up, but because it was requested a couple of times in my bedroom post. I don't have a huge amount of make-up in comparison to some people's collections (I'm a student, trust me I would happily have more!!!), but I have consolidated it all into two drawers and after much faffing about, swapping and changing boxes and seeing how many lipsticks I can fit into one small space, I have my storage completely sorted.

*ooh hi me!*

So I keep my make-up in the two big draws and I use boxes or lids as little dividers to seperate everything as I like it all to be organised and categorised. In one draw I keep all of my 'face' products: foundations, concealers, highlighters, powders, blushers and bronzers. Towards the back is where I keep my nail varnish removers, make-up tools, eyelashes and a back-up concealer. I also slot samples of products down the sides so they aren't sprawled over everything. The other draw contains eyeshadows, eyeliners, lip pencils, mascaras, lip products and lipsticks. At the back on the left, I keep my Sleek and MUA eyeshadow palettes and a broken Lancome palette (which is held together by elastic bands!). I keep my lip balms and my lip scrub at the back too, alongside miniture travel size Temple Spa toners and cleansers.

I still don't think I am happy with how I keep my lipsticks - it might just be a wise idea to stop buying more Juliette! It also bugs me how they are all different shapes, for example my MAC ones won't stand label side up unless they are tightly squished in. One of life's many problems I'm afraid haha!
